Three tons of waste in one day. How Coca-Cola's "Green Day" went in quarantine

On the 19th of September, 305 volunteers: employees of Coca-Cola Beverages Ukraine and Coca-Cola Ukraine, together with their relatives from different parts of the country, joined the World Cleaning Day. They celebrated it with an environment-friendly gesture and cleaned up their favorite places in their cities

For 15 years in a row, our company has a tradition to gather colleagues on a so-called "Green Day", and 2020 was no exception.

Usually, the company's "Green Day" gathered all employees to clean up the coastal area. However, in 2020 due to quarantine, it was not an option, and we had to adjust our tradition. Nevertheless, the company continued to follow its principles.

This year employees joined the "Green Day" by cleaning their favorite parks, streets, or squares with their families and relatives. People from different departments and cities united around the primary purpose — a world without waste. In total, volunteers collected about three tons of garbage just in one day.

In addition to local cleaning, Coca-Cola launched another activity — "Let's sort waste at home!". This campaign encouraged people to collect their household waste and recycle it correctly.

Coca-Cola initiated "Green Day" in 2006 as a local activity. We are proud and grateful that it takes place at the national level for seven years already. Over the years, the company's volunteers have collected hundreds of tons of garbage.
